The signature is the easy part
Collecting a signature is a solved problem. What still costs service businesses time is everything around it: rebuilding the same agreement, sending a document that stays open forever, guessing whether it was read, and handing a client a screen that belongs to someone else's brand. SecureSign Portal is built around that workflow, not around the signature field.
Portal workflow vs signature-first tools
The left column describes SecureSign Portal behavior verified in the product. The right column describes the general shape of signature-first tools and is not a claim about any specific vendor's current plans — check their pricing pages for exact terms.
| What matters | SecureSign Portal | Signature-first tools |
|---|---|---|
| Where the workflow ends | Template, send, track, sign, archive, export the activity trail | Ends at the collected signature |
| Branding | Logo, colors and contract layout included on the signing page | Commonly positioned as a paid upgrade |
| Metering | Flat plan with a monthly contract allowance shown in the workspace | Typically per-envelope or per-send counting |
| Client access | Temporary link, 24 hours to 30 days, revocable, view-tracked | Usually an emailed document link |
| Template changes | Publish a new version; existing contracts stay as signed | Varies by product |
Questions people ask
How is a contract portal different from a signature tool?
A signature tool ends at the signature. A contract portal covers what surrounds it: reusable templates, a branded client-facing page, access that expires, status and view tracking, an activity history and an archive of signed agreements.
Is branding an upgrade here?
No. Logo, colors and contract layout are part of every workspace and apply to both the portal and the client signing page.
How are plans metered?
By workspace, not by envelope. Standard includes 25 contracts per month and Pro includes 250, and the remaining allowance is shown in your workspace.
Can I control how long a client can access an agreement?
Yes. Each signing link has an expiry between 24 hours and 30 days, can be revoked manually, and records view counts and last-viewed timestamps.
Does SecureSign Portal give legal advice or compliance guarantees?
No. It is contract workflow software. The wording of your agreements and how you use them remain your responsibility.
